HangupsMusic.com – Houston, TX – Iyanna "Yaya" Mayweather, the daughter of boxing icon Floyd Mayweather Jr., has been ordered by a Texas court to pay a substantial sum of $50 million to Lapattra Lashai Jacobs, the victim of a violent altercation that occurred in 2020 at the residence of rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again. The judgment, issued by the District Court of Harris County, details a significant financial penalty stemming from an aggravated assault charge.
The court’s decision awards Jacobs a total of $40,105,000 in compensatory damages and an additional $10 million in exemplary damages. Compensatory damages are intended to reimburse the victim for losses incurred, while exemplary damages, also known as punitive damages, are levied to punish the defendant for egregious conduct and deter similar future actions.
Within the compensatory damages, the court allocated $8 million for immediate losses, encompassing physical pain, mental anguish, loss of earnings, and disfigurement. A considerably larger portion, $32 million, has been designated for future damages, also covering physical pain, mental anguish, physical impairment, and ongoing disfigurement. The judge’s imposition of $10 million in exemplary damages was based on a finding that Mayweather knowingly committed an aggravated assault using a deadly weapon, underscoring the severity of the court’s assessment of her actions.
While Jacobs had initially included YoungBoy Never Broke Again as a defendant in her lawsuit, those specific claims were not part of the proceedings that led to this judgment. The legal focus remained on Mayweather’s alleged role in the incident.
To ensure the financial judgment can be satisfied, the court has mandated that Mayweather provide comprehensive documentation of all her financial assets. This includes details on all bank accounts, existing contractual obligations, all sources of revenue, and any other earnings. This measure is a standard procedure in cases involving substantial financial judgments, aiming to provide transparency and facilitate the collection of the awarded sum.
Mayweather’s legal troubles related to this incident began earlier. In April 2022, she entered a guilty plea to a charge of Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon. This plea followed a stabbing incident that took place on April 3, 2020, at the Louisiana home of YoungBoy Never Broke Again. At the time of the incident, Mayweather and the rapper were reportedly in a relationship and shared a child.
Reports indicate that Jacobs is another mother of one of YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s children. The confrontation reportedly erupted when Mayweather arrived at the rapper’s residence and allegedly became incensed by Jacobs’ presence. Witnesses and court documents suggest that a verbal dispute between the two women escalated into a physical altercation. Mayweather is accused of retrieving two knives from the kitchen and subsequently stabbing Jacobs on two occasions.
